"Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world"
Little Harriet was born into slavery in Maryland and laboured in the fields from the age of 12. But as an adult, she escaped, freeing herself before returning back to lead hundreds of enslaved African Americans to freedom with great bravery and courage.
Harriet sacrificed so much of her life for others, eventually working for the army in the Civil War and then promoting women's voting rights until she retired in Auburn, New York.
Not only does this book celebrate the life of an outstanding black person, it also shine a light on the racial injustices that she had to endure throughout her life because of the colour of her skin. This book can be used to start a conversation with your child on the injustices black people still face today. We have to educate a new generation to be antiracist, so that in the future we can live in a fairer, more equal world. Black Lives Matter.
100% of profits from the sales of this book will be donated to two anti-racist charities. Both aim to tackle racism in the UK and create a society in which everyone has a chance to thrive and be treated with the respect that they deserve, regardless of the colour of their skin.
